Mathew Truscott

Violin

Mathew Truscott was born in 1975 and started playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague with Eric Gruenberg, Simon Standage and Vera Beths

Mathew is now enjoying a busy career as second violinist for the Dante Quartet whilst maintaining a keen interest in period performance, playing with groups such as the English Baroque Soloists, Orchestre Rèvolutionaire et Romantique and the Academy of Ancient Music. His baroque chamber group The Private Music, specialising in 17th century music, recently featured in BBC Radio 3's 'Music Restored' programme and in 1999 won the York Early Music Prize.
