German-born violinist Sara
Deborah Struntz obtained her Mmus and Artist Diploma at the
Royal College of Music, London, in 2007 under Natasha
Boyarsky and Adrian Butterfield as a scholar of various
German and English foundations including the Leverhulme
trust. She was coached in masterclasses by Rachel Podger,
Catherine Mackintosh, Robert Levin and Sir Roger Norrington
among others. An award-holder of a RCM junior fellowship
2007/08 she is currently an Assistant Teacher for Violin at
the Yehudi Menuhin School.
Sara's historical performance activities range from 17th century through to the Romantic Period. As a soloist and recitalist she performs across Europe with recent appearances including the Wiener Konzerthaus, Trigonale and Fraenkischer Sommer Festival as well as the London Handel and BachUK festivals. A prize winner at several German and English competitions she was awarded a Philip &Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists by Making Music in 2008. With her chamber groups Ensemble Amaranthos and Chiaroscuro Quartet she has performed at the York Early Music Festival, Aldeburgh Music, The Sage/Gateshead (including a BBC3 broadcast) and Wigmore Hall and enjoyed successes at the York Early Music and Trossingen ďa tre' competitions. She regularly works with the UK's leading baroque ensembles including the OAE, La Serenissima, the Sixteen, Florilegium, and Dunedin Consort and was a member and section leader of the European Union Baroque Orchestra 2008, working under Vladimir Jurowski, Lars-Ulrik Mortensen and Enrico Onofri.
