Brescianello Unlocked La Serenissima’s post-pandemic conclusion to Brescianello’s Opus 1 is ready to stream/buy now. Supporters to the project can expect to receive copies very soon.

This month, we recorded a new album Crossing Borders in Cedars Hall, Wells. We were able to do this thanks to the generosity of album sponsor John Osborn CBE, our Patrons & Continuo Foundation.

The team consisted of Adrian Chandler & Oliver Cave (violin), Elitsa Bogdanova (viola), Vladimir Waltham (cello), Jan Zahourek (bass), Lynda Sayce (theorbo), Robin Bigwood (harpsichord) with soloists Tabea Debus (recorder) & Katy Bircher (flute).

Our engineer Dave Rowell set-up the microphones & equipment in time to race home for a C-section delivery of his second child; we are grateful to Alexander Van Ingen for taking on engineering duties.

Our producer Simon Fox-Gal ran the sessions remotely, as usual, from his home in Greece – thanks to the joys of high-speed broadband.

The project was not without complications, including unexpected noise from leaf-blowers & tractors on site – a major disturbance to the process. Adrian arrived in Wells suffering from a virus (undoubtedly passed on by one of the kids), so facemasks were out again for this project!

The band performed this programme in St Martin in the Fields, to a great turn-out.
“Loved the enthusiasm and the introductions to the pieces… the music and performances were sublime.” Audience Member

Our next performance is:

11 December
London, Wigmore Hall The Four Seasons

Including Christmas works by Valentini & Zavateri

Don’t forget you can buy all our CDs on the website (£15 or 3 @ £40) – we now have all titles available at the La Serenissima office. Every purchase helps support our music.

This month, we said goodbye to our friend & Patron of La Serenissima, Dr Glenys Phillips. Glenys was a generous supporter of our music and our musicians. We will miss her familiar presence at concerts. Camilla attended her funeral in Cardiff.

We’re reminded of the tremendous support which the La Serenissima community gives us. Thank you for being part of this community. We look forward to seeing some of you at Wigmore Hall in December.
