Brescianello, Vol. 1
Opus 1: Libro Primo, Ouverture-Suite in B flat
Adrian Chandler director/violin LA SERENISSIMA
La Serenissima celebrate ‘Settecento’ – the style of art, music and architecture that emerged in Italy in the early 18th century – with a collection of upbeat instrumental works from the period. Music from the Kingdom of Naples (Scarlatti, Mancini), Republic of Venice (Dall’Abaco, Vandini, Tartini & Vivaldi) and the Papal States / Bologna (Brescianello) is performed by the ensemble with YCAT artist Tabea Debus (recorder).
Hop on your scooter: the album was released 12 February 2021!
This album began life during recording sessions for our 2015 album Vivaldi The Four Seasons. Always keen to use every minute of recording time available, La Serenissima delivered a performance of Vivaldi’s S. Lorenzo concerto in a record 25 minutes – sparking the idea for a new collection of recordings, made over four years during ‘extra time’. The cover shows featured composers adorning shirts from Everton Football Club – Adrian Chandler’s ‘home’ team.
